PRINT ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS

Company logos and simple designs:

The ideal format of artwork for simple logos or messages is a vector graphic file, as these give the best quality of print and allow designs to be resized without any loss of detail (although for full colour images see appropriate section below).

File type:

Adobe Illustrator .eps or .ai vector graphic files are the preferred option, and some .pdf files (although sometimes these are just .jpg files saved in .pdf format). We can convert artwork from Corel files if you have those.

Text:

Text in an artwork file will default to another typeface if we do not have the font file used. To prevent this please 'create outlines' or 'convert to paths' before sending us your design (or alternatively send us the font file so that we can install it).

Not acceptable:

Bitmap type images (.bmp, .jpg and .png) don't allow for colour separation and are often in very low resolution and so can't be used. Word processing files and paper-based versions of your logo (letterhead, business card, etc.) will need to be re-drawn before we can use them (see section below).

Logo print colours:

To ensure consistency of colour we work with the Pantone Matching System where possible, and so a Pantone or 'PMS' reference for each colour used in your design would help. If not supplied we will match as best we can, but it will only ever be a 'best match'.

Artwork re-drawing:

If you can't find the right format, but have a low resolution version of your logo, then we can re-draw any design for £25.00 plus VAT.

Locating artwork:

If it makes things simpler we are happy to contact your design agency, or other source, to get the required artwork files and save you the hassle.

Print area:

Each product we supply has it's own maximum print area and we will set up your design within that, at an optimum size, unless specifically advised otherwise. You will always have the chance to correct logo sizing at proof stage if needed.

Approval:

You will always have the chance to correct logo sizing, print colours and layout at proof stage if needed.

EMBROIDERY ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS

New design set-up:

If you can't find the right format, but have a low resolution version of your logo, then we can re-draw any design for £25.00 plus VAT.

Existing designs:

If it makes things simpler we are happy to contact your design agency, or other source, to get the required artwork files and save you the hassle.

Thread colours:

We use market leading Madeira threads and match Pantone colours to these as best we can (but the thread pallet is far more limited and so compromises often need to be made).

Embroidery area:

Standard sized 'left breast' designs are usually limited to about 10cm wide (any larger and they can begin to disappear under the armpit!). Typically these designs contain 5,000 to 8,000 stitches, but it is very dependant on the detail each design contains. Larger designs for the back of garments are very stitch intensive and so often screen or transfer print works out as a more sensible alternative.
